Dementia Friends visits KWMC

Today most of the team at KWMC spent an hour having Dementia Friends training. It was really helpful and gave us all more of an understanding about Dementia, and gave us tools to become more supportive of people living with Dementia. As it is often seen as stigmatised, we need to start talking more openly about it.

Political party @ KWMC

Tonight saw a great combination of people, including the fabulous phresh boiiz, Davina Froom, Praminda from Bristol robotics & Rachael Miles from UWE. Chaired by Matt Little from RiO, the South Bristol candidates were challenged in a non conventional format. Great evening, great debate, thanks to everyone who came.

3D Printing Workshop at KWMC today

Today we were lucky enough to have two students from Bristol University to show us their amazing 3D printer. We are now much more knowledgable about 3D printers and are now the proud owners of one donated to us by Bristol University! Thank you! :)

Welly Wednesday at Knowle West Media Centre

Today is #WellyWed - a campaign set up by 1625IP who support homeless 16-25 year olds in the South West to live independently through housing, skills, confidence building, education, training, jobs & fun. We bought our wellies into work and are wearing them to raise awareness & money (even if our feet are a little hot!) We then went outside into this b-e-a-u-t-iful sun and got involved with some Welly Wanging! Mena, as you can probably see - was a clear winner...

Lovely new plaque with our logo on

The lovely Fiona from Laser House has made us a new plaque for our main studio here at Knowle West Media Centre as our old one was looking a bit outdated!

Bristol Green Youth Day

Had the pleasure of being at Bristol Green Youth Day held at Colston Hall today. Some amazing talks from Laura Bates, Owen Jones, Fahma Mohamed and more! Made my pledge for healthier communities by walking to work more often and saw the Crocodile App win the Digital Challenge - the idea of a walking bus, great idea with health benefits and making our communities more green by less driving to school!

Jill Leovy - Bristol Festival of Ideas

This evening Bristol Festival of Ideas held a talk at Waterstones with Jill Leovy. She talked about her experience of which she was embedded within the LAPD, for the best part of a decade looking into the homicide epidemic. Her book follows the story of one particular 18 year old boy. Really looking forward to getting my teeth into it!
